African-American Spirituals
African-American slaves created spirituals out of their need to survive the horrors of slavery. Beyond providing an emotional outlet, spirituals served as a vehicle for communication, a catalyst for community solidarity and an expression of deep spirituality.
In this internationally acclaimed show, Anthony pays tribute to the universal themes of sorrow, struggle and hope that even today touch people of all races, religious backgrounds and cultures.
